Dr. Ziv

Kind. Patient. Thorough.

I am a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Perinatal Psychiatrist, and Paediatrician in Cambridge. I work in both private practice and for the NHS. During my time with the NHS, I have led an adolescent inpatient unit and an Autism service, and I am currently working in the Perinatal Mental Health Team in Cambridge.

Additionally, I teach medical students at the University of Cambridge and hold the position of affiliated assistant professor at the University of Cambridge.

I am fully licensed to practice by the General Medical Council, and I am on the GMC's specialist register. My GMC number is 7464666.

In my private practice, I carry out comprehensive diagnostic assessments for ADHD and Autism and provide psychiatric evaluation and treatment for young individuals facing emotional and neurodevelopmental issues.

Why work with me?

Professional. Experienced. Educated.

I have 13 years of experience working as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist.

I use my extensive experience and knowledge to truly understand what is going on for my patients. I continue to top up my education by reading new research, talking to colleagues and taking courses. Staying on top of the latest research allows me to stay strong as a practitioner and versatile in my approach whilst using well studies methods to help people.

Personal Philosophy.

Unsurprisingly, research continues to demonstrate that the earlier a diagnosis can be provided, along with subsequent appropriate intervention, the better the outcomes for individuals with emotional difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as for their parents or carers. Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in particular benefit significantly from early interventions. It is my belief that conducting a thorough initial assessment to identify specific needs and offering timely treatment is crucial for improving your child's outcomes. I also strongly recommend collaborative efforts between young individuals and their parents or caregivers to enhance their overall quality of life.

Personailty.

In my clinic I aim to create a safe feeling environment for young people to be able to open up about their struggles. I give space to allow hard feelings to come forward and I express empathy and kindness to give validation to the concerns I hear from both patient and guardian. Feeling heard, combined with that little bit of extra knowledge and reassurance can really help ease some nerves and fears.

Time & Report.

Part of my work is taking an in-depth approach to gathering not just the facts of a person’s life but a thorough dive into what life is like for them and how they cope and manage. This means that session times are longer than most appointment so we can really cover what we need to without feeling rushed. This leads me to be able to offer the best possible advice and explanations to both patient and guardian. More time together means I can put together effective treatment plans. Furthermore, it allows me everything I need to spend time making a well-considered, full psychiatric report. This report is an important document that provides evidence for quicker intervention particularly within the education and healthcare systems.
